Truth.

Truth: I love spending time with my kids.
I want to bond with my children
and for them to bond with each other.
Truth: I love learning with them.
I want them to like learning.
Truth: I am still the main influence over my kids.
I am still their #1 teacher.
Truth: I want them to know THE Truth.
And how it connects with daily life
and the world around us.

Even if they're in public school.

Truth: I am still the parent.
Truth: I have not released myself from my duties.
Truth: Faith and family values are still priority.
Always.

Even if they're in public school.

  1. How do I even begin to tell you who I am... I found you years ago through myspace. We have a mutual friend, Lisa (don't want to reveal last names online). You must have left a comment on her myspace page one time and I guess I clicked on it and found where you were blogging somehow (I promise I'm not a stalker or anything like that!) and was drawn into it because I could relate to you. I have a little boy that's about 6 months older than Eli and another little boy that's 14 months. I can relate to so many of your posts on frustrations with the children, wanting to do better on your walk with Christ, leading your children down the right road, etc.

While you get to stay home with your children but feel like maybe others think you shouldn't put them in public school, I struggle with being a working mom at a public school. I feel that I'm often judged because I don't stay home full time (just in the last year and a half have we afforded me to work part time and do a job share) and don't have my children in a private christian school. Around here many do private versus public or homeschooling. I am still their mom even though I am not home all the time or keep my house neat since when I am home I'd rather spend time with them than clean. I know many people (even those we are closes to) will say to just cut costs, live frugally, and so on but when my husband makes less than me as a part time teacher it's not possible for us right now. We have to put food on the table, have insurance for our health, and be able to have some fun occasionally.

All this to say, I love your openness and honesty and I completely know how you feel more often than not. I have even tried blogging, but as I said I don't have a lot of free time because I AM a working mom and my job does take a lot of my free time when the kids aren't. I feel like I know you from reading your blog all these years and you must be a great person because you're friends with Lisa. :)

More than you realize you have challenged me, encouraged me, and helped me with my insecurities. Thank you for your blog. It's been a ministry to me.
