A phrase I've been using with my kids quite a bit lately and to myself too, has been this:
If Jesus can DIE ON THE CROSS for you... then surely you can wait a couple minutes for your drink.
If Jesus can DIE ON THE CROSS for me... then surely I can wash the dishes without complaining.
If Jesus can DIE ON THE CROSS for you... then surely you can (fill in the blank).
I hope there's nothing wrong with saying that, but it helps me realize how absolutely petty the things are that we complain about. JESUS suffered even though He did NOTHING wrong. Jesus WILLINGLY gave His life for ME. Who am I to complain about ANYTHING?!

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
My sweet friend, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this & everything right with it!! I love this and I want to thank you for sharing! I am going to start implementing this in our life around here. I am so grateful to have you for a friend! Love you!
ReplyDeleteI really like this. I think I'll be using this, too. Something perfect to keep in mind.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Brilliant! i want to make that into a sign that hangs somewhere in my new house.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to use that in light of potty training....but God never potty trained :( jk
ReplyDeleteFor the last two months I have been studying to teach a weekly bible study from Philippians. Many times during the book of Philippians, and other books that he wrote, Paul urges us to keep our eyes on Heaven, and not on Earth, as our home and to imitate Christ. I think the thought process you have outlined in this blog is a great way to do just that. I am going to share it with the ladies in my ladies bible study. Thanks for sharing.
