Getting to Know YOU!

Today's question, and I probably know many of your answers, but some of you I don't so where are you from?? What states have you lived in, do you live near family??  I'll go first... I was born in North Carolina but grew up in small-town (pop. 1500) Iowa.  Did college in a small-ish town, spending one semester living in downtown Denver.  Then I got married and lived in Virginia and Connecticut while Kevin was in the Navy.  And now we're back "home" (2.5hrs from both sets of parents) in small-town/rural Nebraska where we plan to stay for quite awhile. It's so great being pretty close to family.  My brother and his wife just moved to from Denver to Nebraska this past year so now they're close too!  Although Kevin's sister and her husband are in Minnesota and much of my extended family is in North Carolina and my dad's side of the family are in Colorado and Texas, so we really don't see them much with the kids so little and it being hard to travel such a distance.  So how 'bout you?? (note: you do NOT have to give your specific town, but just the state is good)

And if you missed my other questions I've asked you can click to see them here:
* What does your man do for a living and what's the schedule like for him and your family?
* What did you do after high school?

  1. Born and raised in a small-ish town in Iowa. At the time most of my extended family all lived in the same area so I got to grow up with LOTS of cousins, aunts, and uncles! Went to college in another small-ish town in Iowa. Moved 7.5 hours away to southern Missouri to a slightly larger town and married Justin. Now we live in the same town as one set of his grandparents and his mom and step-dad, but are VERY far from everyone else. :( Like it here well enough, but we don't plan on staying for every - maybe only another five years or so!

  2. Born in Ontario, moved to Florida when I was 14. Went to college in Iowa for 2.5 yrs where I met my hubby. Moved to CT where hubby was from when we got married and have lived there ever since. I'm pretty sure we will never move, we love it here and all of our family lives within a 2 hr drive of us. =)

  3. Yay for Ioway!! Born and raised in small-town Iowa. DH and I were childhood friends, but didn't start dating until we were in our early 20s. He was born and raised in a small town about 20 minutes from my hometown. His hometown is where we reside now....lol. I don't get out much! Before that, I spent some time in the twin cities nannying for some family members. Nothing beats small town Iowa, though! What a fun question!

  4. I was born in a small town in Iowa, where too many people gossiped about too many other people (small-town politics). Moved to a larger smallish town in Iowa when I was in the 8th grade. Hated the move at the time but realize now it was one of the best things that could have happened in my life. Went to our lovely, small, private college and loved it - we want to move back there when we have the chance and the time is right. Got married after college and went down to the state capital for law school where we spent 3 years until moving back to my hometown. It's nice being close to my family but sometimes this town drives me crazy!

My sister lives in CO so that seems so far away when X just keeps getting bigger. My brother lived in MI, then TX but moved back to IA to be close to family (X was a large part of that! He's such a great uncle!). I've traveled a lot and seen all parts of the US and overseas, but I love Iowa. :) It just feels like home. :)

  6. I was born & raised in small-village in Nebraska (pop. 300 maybe). Went to college in a small town. Then we lived in another bigger small town in Neb. then traveled cross-country to the big ol' city of Richmond, VA. Then back to the capital of Lincoln (small big city) and now we're in another small town in Neb. Someday probably sooner than later we'll be in a small town in Kansas LOL

We would like to live in rural conditions however.

  9. I was born in Harbour City, California and then lived in the teeny tiny town of Three Hills, AB Canada for 8 years. We then moved to Baker City, OR for 1 1/2 years and Camdenton, MO for a year.... then over to Papua New Guinea for 5 out of the next 6 years. After high school I went to NTBI in Jackson, MI where I met Jeb. After graduating we went to Missippi for 6 months then back to CT where we have been living for just over 10 years .... after moving so much I LOVE being in 1 place and finally owning a home! I hope we never move :)

  10. Born 45 minutes away(in Arkansas) from where I have lived my entire life (small tiny town in southeast Oklahoma, we don't even have a stoplight!) except for 1 year when we were first married we lived about 20 minutes away from where we live now in the small town where my husband grew up (they have 2 stoplights, lol. So, we've pretty much been in the same place together for almost 13 years and we both grew up around here so I would say, ALL OUR LIVES!! lol. I even attended college just 45 minutes from where we live. So, I've never really lived anywhere else but this small southern town! Sorry, that was not really interesting, was it? :)

Love you girl and thanks for the email!

  11. I guess I'm a little late on this one. I have not been on line much lately. Sorry. I do enjoy reading these and participating.

I was born in Texas when my dad was in seminary. When he got out of school, he moved back to Alabama and ministered at churches in central and north Alabama until I was in 6th grade. That was when we moved to south Alabama. When I graduated college, I moved to the closest city and went to a small Baptist College there. I have been here ever since. I met my husband here, and we love it on the coast. His family is from this general area and my dad still pastors a church an hour from here. My brother and his wife and girls have been here for the last six years, but they are possibly moving soon. He is without work here and will need to go where God leads him to take care of his family. As I type, he is praying about a job in Wisconsin. My husband's family all live here... except his brother's family. He, his wife, and his two sons live in North Carolina.
