Kids Memory Verse Song

I came up with this song in the fall for a MOPS lesson with the kids. We talked about all the things changing around us but how Jesus never changes. This is one of Eli's favorite songs he asks me to sing.

Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."
(tune: Jesus Loves Me)

Jesus loves me this I know
Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Even when things start to change,

Jesus will always stay the same.

Hebrews thirteen eight

Hebrews thirteen eight

Hebrews thirteen eight

Jesus will never change.

He'll forgive me every day

He listens every time I pray

He's always with me wherever I go

For the Bible tells me so.

Jesus will never change.

Kids Memory Verse Song

For all the memory verses I do with the kids I try to come up with a short song to help us remember. I guess that's me finally using something of my music ministry degree? We sing them in the car, throughout the day, and at bedtime. It's a lot more fun than just reciting verses. I posted a few HERE quite awhile ago and now we have a lot more to share, so be watching for them in the coming weeks.

We try to do the songs as closely to the verse as it is, but more importantly I'm trying to teach the message of the verse.

This is one of our shortest ones:

Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as Christ God forgave you."

(Tune: Mulberry Bush)
Ephesians four verse thirty two
Be kind to one another
Share God's love with everyone
Be kind to one another.

Weekly Memory Verse

Sorry I haven't been very consistent about putting verses up every week. Life is very busy! But I'm trying. Still doing review perhaps for a long time. So here's this week's choice verse:

Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymn, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts toward God.

Weekly Memory Verse

So it's 11:00am already and I just realized that it's Wednesday and I need to post a memory verse! Sorry I've missed it the last two weeks. We've been so busy with visitors but yesterday my brother Paul left and he was the last until Mom and Dad come again in May. I need to keep reviewing for awhile, so this week I'm going back to one of the very first verses I memorized...

Joshua 1:8
Do not let the word of the Law depart from your mouth. Meditate on it day and night, so you will be careful to do everything in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

This week's verse is especially good for me to put to heart. Next fall we get out of the Navy and are then free to take whatever path "we want". We plan to head back to Iowa where all our family is, and we have a very specific location in mind. For many reasons it's ideal for us, and we have our hopes set on it, with backup options in mind too, of course. We have fun looking at real estate online and dreaming about what life will be like when we live there and how close we'll be to everyone. BUT then I come back to reality and realize that GOD has a plan. And it will be HIS plan than prevails! I need to go at this next year with an open heart and an open mind, putting my full trust in Him, and this verse will strengthen me as I try to do just that!

Bloggy Break

Just wanted to let y'all know that I'm taking a bloggy break this week. I've been stressed and cranky and just need a week to refocus and recharge by spending a little more time with God and a little less time on the computer.

So I won't be posting a new memory verse this Wednesday--let's have another review week! Or choose a verse of your own. I'll be back with a new one next week, I promise!

And Friday's Family Focus...
Assignment: plan a fun activity for the family. We'll be carving our pumpkin, baking some seeds, and making a yummy dessert of some kind!

Have a great week, friends!
I'll be back soon!
