I'm the kind of person who follows the rules, and I get anxiety if I'm doing something that's even borderline. I want my kids buckled up in the safest way possible. For the most part. Convenience does play a part sometimes. But these are some videos that have changed my views on car seats and I now honestly believe in extended rear facing (til at least closer to 2 year instead of 1 or YOUNGER! although really the longer the better) and extended 5-pt harness. Take a look...

I'm planning on leaving Karleigh rear facing for as long as possible & right now I'm researching convertible carseats. What brand did y'all get?
That's great that you're going to stick with RF for as long as possible! We currently have Carter in a Safety 1st Alpha and Omega Elite convertible car seat. That one's been through all three kids so far, so he may end up getting a new one sometime just for time's sake?? Eli is in a Graco Nautilus and it can still use the 5pt harness til 65 lbs. He's only about 50lbs now so even though most kids his age are in a shoulder belt booster he's still got quite a ways to go before we even convert to the high back booster and then later on a backless booster. Hannah is in a Sunshine Radian 65. It's easiest for me/us to have all three kids (and carseats) in a row in our Expedition instead of always flipping a seat to get someone to the back. So we wanted the slim width that this particular car seat has. It rear faces to 40 lbs and 5pt harnesses to 65 lbs (no booster options after that though). It folds in half and has a shoulder strap for easy carrying through an airport or something. It's a heavier seat but I love how well it fits in the car, and the LATCH buckles on it are sooo much easier than the other 2 car seats!
