We're still in the process of deciding on a name for Baby #3, so everywhere I look I keep my eyes open to name ideas... brand names, initials, movie credits, stores, street names, book characters. Phillips 66, Taylor Trucking, Jesse James sign, etc. Names are everywhere!
The name Eli came to me because I remembered a friend of mine who worked with a little boy named Eli and liked the name. We chose Elijah as the full name though, and William is a family name.
Anne is another family name but I converted it>>Anna>>Hannah. Mostly I just really liked the name Hannah Elizabeth and was set on it right from the start. First name anyway, middle name took awhile to decide.
And baby 3's name is still in progress. I have a name I'm pretty set on, but we're not in 100% agreement about it quite yet.
But I'm curious, what's the story behind your children's names?? How did they come to you? Is it a family name, is it from a favorite TV show, is it named after someone special, or did it just come to you in a baby name search? I'd love to hear your story!

It is interesting to learn how people came up with names for their kids.... All three of my kids have three names lol..crazy sometimes but they do fit them...
Kylie Rae Lene....Paul had always wanted to name his little girl Kylie...Rae is after me and my dad (our middle names are both Rae (Ray) ) Lene...after her grandma (Darlene) her aunt and grandmother (Irene).
Alaina Jae Dawn Alaina was a name that I loved and had a friend with that name. Jae is after Jason (pauls middle name..she was supposed to be our last and we wanted one named after him) Dawn is her aunts middle name.
Jason Douglas Glen Jason after Paul, Douglas after my dad and Glen after Pauls dad....
I didnt look at the meanings of names, that just wasnt something I did, I really just liked the way they sounded together...although I did realize after the fact that my stepson Jack and Jason are the only two boys and they both start with J and Rae and Jae rhyme...not intentional on either case..

With my first we caused trouble. My husband is the 3rd Patrick Thomas, but there is no "Jr" or "3rd" on anyone's birth certificate. Because of that, it caused problems in credit reports, etc. Same name.
We liked the idea of carrying on the name, but neither of us were set on it. It didn't feel right. We narrowed it down, and I left it to my husband.
We knew we wanted an Irish name, and we went w/ Aidan Patrick. It coincidentally worked out that St. Aidan was the successor to St. Patrick in Ireland, so we thought that was kind of neat. Patrick (my husband) and then Aidan coming in his footsteps.
Brennan is also Irish, and that was the only consistency we were going for. Once he was born, people joked w/ us all the time about going in ANC order. While it wasn't intentional, we think it's kind of funny, too. So if our next child is a girl, we already decided on the name Cecilia Irene. Both names are family names, too, so it works, AND in ABC order. LOL

With Brianna, I had always wanted to name a girl for some friends of ours who lost a little girl when she was 18 months old. they were very good friends of our family. Her middle name, Michelle, is my middle name. (and my husband's sister's first name!) With Jonah, well, I love the movie Sleepless in Seattle and have loved the name Jonah because of that movie. His middle name is Michael, which is his father's middle name (and my brother's first name!) With #3 we were between Noah and Micah. We were hesitant about Micah (because every Micah I've ever known has been a jerk!!!) but when he was born he just didn't look like a Noah! We chose Edward for his middle name because it's very much a family name, my grandpa (who died in Feb), my dad, my husbands dad, and my other brother's middle name! (Plus, I'm a huge Twilight fan and totally team Edward! LOL!!!) Good luck...I know you'll find just the right name when the time comes!!!
Our boys both have their own unique (to our family) names.
My husband is a Jr and it has been nothing more than a headache for car insurance, credit reports, mail, etc. We both vowed that we wouldn't name our children anything close to our names for that reason alone!
We also didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by naming our child after one person and not the other - especially since we would not be naming our sons after their own father (which is the exact same name as his father, duh, he's a Jr.:). Would his dad feel bad if we named our son after my dad? For that reason, we decided to also not name our kids after a family member.
While Mark was in Iraq, we both came up with our own lists of names we liked. I can't remember if Isaiah was just on one of our lists, or both, but after comparing, it was the name we liked the best. We did the same for middle names and decided that Isaiah Alec was perfect for our little baby.
With Levi James, we talked about names together here and there, but never really sat down and made lists. One day I mentioned to Mark that I liked the name Levi. A few days later, he told me that he'd really thought about it and liked that name too. So there we had it decided! For his middle name, Mark has always wanted a son that he could call a nick-name that is made up of initials. So once we came up with Levi, he wanted a middle name that could make a nick-name. We liked the name James and figured LJ would work great! (I must mention that very, very rarely does Mark ever call him LJ -- ha ha).
Obviously both of our boys have Biblical names, that wasn't a requirement - but what made us really like the names.
Nothing too exciting about where our names come from, but I love them both none the less, and couldn't imagine them named anything different!

Family names have always been important to me, espcially since I'm named after my Grandpa and Mom.
Xander Leroy comes from 2 different places. Justin & I had names picked out that we liked before we even knew we were having kids. So once we were expecting, we just needed to pick from the list and add a middle name.
Xander comes from Alexander. We both love Alexander but didn't want people always calling him Alex, because we preferred the entire name. So instead, we took the second half, Xander. (Also, my cousin has an Alexander so it didn't seem appropriate).
Leroy is Xander's great-grandfather's middle name. Justin's grandpa passed away about 8 years ago and was pretty important in Justin's life so we wanted to use his name is some way.
