Monday Meanderings

In light of yesterday's news I do not feel like spending forever trying to figure out what to feed the family this week (have I told you I hate menu planning?), or what activities to plan for Eli. But the week must carry on, so here we go:

Bible Study
Contagious Joy. Pay no attention to the fact that it's taking me waay too long to get through this book! I'm really not disciplined when it comes to Bible time. Come to think of it, I'm really not all that disciplined when it comes to anything!

Husband Encouragement
* Blackberry Cheese Pie. It's been awhile since I've made this, and hubby's requesting it!
* We're in the process of looking for a newer trucker for Kevin to drive to work. Now that he has a 50-mile commute every day, he needs something more reliable than his old '92 Jeep Cherokee. I am going to try hard to give him my input but fully trust him with the final decision. I hate big purchases like this.

Train Them Up
* School and chores for Eli.
* Blanket time for Hannah.

Personal Goal
* Work out at least 3x this week.
* Wake up before kids.

Must Do
* Set up budget spread sheet for next month.
* Plant garden seeds if it's not raining. We have a full week of rain all this week, so we'll see about this.

Zone
Master bedroom. After the last two weekend trips we've taken, we still have suitcases sitting out, and it's starting to set a bad standard for the whole rest of the room.

Menu

Monday - chili, peaches
Tuesday - crockpot spaghetti, garlic toast
Wednesday - vegetable soup
Thursday - crockpot roast chicken, broccoli cheese rice
Friday - appetizer/movie night - smokies, cheesy spinach and artichoke dip
Saturday - chicken and rice caserole
Sunday - pork roast, green beans, creamy orange jello

Fun Things
* Shopping day in the city with my mom on Friday!
* I think I might plan a "movie night" with the family some night. It's been awhile since we've let Eli watch a full movie. And since it's going to be rainy ALL week, that might be a fun family thing to do together.
* A surprise breakfast for the kids...
* Kevin's family is coming for a short visit on Saturday after his uncle from Arizona flies into Omaha.

Question of the week:
Now that we live in a world of digital pictures do you still keep up with photo albums?? Now that we can and do take an unlimited number of pictures for every occasion and every not-occasion, it seems like it's getting too many to to print since it's so hard to pick and choose! So tell me, what to do you do with your photos??

Your meal planning will one day hit the "this is so easy it's no trouble at all" stage! Figure the good weeks of meals and repeat 2-3 of them.

Hope you have a great movie night...sometimes it's nice to just escape the everyday, then you're a bit more refreshed to start the next day!

Pictures: I'm laughing and shaking my head at myself. We take pictures (and video) and have them stored on the computers. Our first comp. crashed (it was recently fixed) and all those pics were there. I'd love to get a plug in storage devise for pictures and videos only...I think that's the only important stuff on my computer.
I'm still trying (off and on and not and then again) to make up my photo albums. I would like to have one of the places we've lived and definitely one of the children showing when I was expecting them and who the siblings were at the time. I wish I'd paid more attention and taken one every year of each child (kinda like school pics) to put in a picture frame. These are the things I remember my parents having (except the school pics-that was a friend) and really enjoyed. I also would like to have a large picture frame of older family like grandparents and greatgrandparents and any old, old pics I might have or am able to get from family.
The playing outside and everyday life pictures are more for screen savers, for the children to watch as a video.

That's what I've done or would do if I ever get back to printing out the pictures!!

Hugs and Blessings!!

Ultimately I want to still print off pictures and have them in albums. Sadly it's not happening as I'd like, but when I know I can store them online or on our hard drive, it quickly becomes one of those things "I'll get to when I have more time". In my mind I imagine printing off 100 or so at a time, then spending an entire summer doing albums.
I find much value in an actual album. Just a better feel than looking at the pictures on a screen.

Impressive menu considering you didn't want to do one! I hope you find a good movie for you all to enjoy.

I'll say a prayer a good truck comes your way!

As for pictures: I have three years of scrapbooks for Caleb. I needed a break b/c I was getting so far behind. I print pictures periodically. Usually when I see a "free shipping" code or lowered price at York I will order. It is hard to choose which to print sometimes and later when I look at them I think why did I pick this one! I have several envelopes in order that need to be put in albums.

Hey Sarah,

Stumbled accross your blog through another friend (Rae Lynne) and love reading through it. It's nice to hear from someone who is going through the same everyday challenges that I am (my son Logan is just shy of two now).

About pictures...I print them ALL...because I can never choose when looking at them on the computer. Now they are ALL sitting in the same boxes they were shipped in because it seems like there is never time to scrapbook them or get them into albums. My ultimate goal is to finish a scrapbook for Logan's first year (I'm through about six months now - got a ways to go :D) and put the rest in albums. I want him to have them someday for himself and his family. We'll see if I get there!

Thanks for creating this wonderful blog!

After Colby was born I made it a point every other month or so of going through all our digital pictures, selecting about 25, 50 or 100 depending on what happened during those times and printing just those not all of them.
Unfortunately the number of photos got away from me and I'd really like to get back to that pattern. It was easy because typically I could find free print ads about that often so they would get printed for free. And also by then I had enough to print that it seemed worthwhile to get it done and waiting that long between gave me time to organize them into albums without feeling overwhelmed.
Now that you mention it... I think I might just make that my project for May. Oh boy, that'll be a lot of photos to catch up on from the last 9-11 months that I have forgotten to print photos of. Better get to it before Baby #2 arrives or I'll REAAAAALLY be behind then!

Thanks for the idea and reminder! :)
