Answer Me This: Kids Toothbrushes.

Can someone please answer me, what is with the age ratings on kids' toothbrushes??  I was picking out Eli a new one today because his was all "hairy" (AKA the bristles were really frizzled.  hmm, I like that word, I think I just made it up) and looking at all the brushes on the shelves they all look the same to me.  I select one that I think looks good, then flip it over and it says 5-7 yrs!  So I put it back and kept looking.  There's Stage 1 and Stage 2 and maybe Stage 3 or whatever, but what's the difference in these brushes?  And does it really matter what I use when??

I thought it was size. I just use my judgement for V & L now but def bought the little ones when they were small. And I always buy soft bristles. I'm more picky about the toothpaste. Must be safe to swallow. :o)

as long as his teeth get brushed- who cares! :)

we are in need of new tooth brushes around here- good thing we have cleanings on thursday- and that means free toothbrushes, floss and paste!

I guess I've never noticed, but I bet it has to do with the softness of the bristles because when they're little guys with no teeth (or few teeth) you don't want to use one you'd use on a mouth full of pearly whites. :) I think any would work though - it's a toothbrush!

I wondered the same thing the last time I bought the kids new toothbrushes! I don't know the answer either! I just make sure that the bristles are "soft." When I take the kids to the dentist this fall, I'll ask about this and get back to you!
