Husband Encouragement Challenge: DAY 13

Sounds like several of us are kind of on "blah mode" with the challenge the past couple of days. So today I'm going to try help motivate. Audience participation day! I'd like to have some response today, but if you don't get to it, anytime is fine too....
1. Tell us 5 positive things your husband has done already this week. (big or small, anything!)
2. Tell us 1 thing you're going to do for your husband today to tell him that you respect and appreciate him.

I'll go first. PART ONE: Here are my five things:
1. Yesterday afternoon Eli was having trouble napping and just in his crib screaming. I was getting real anxiety listening to him cry and just having to let him be for a few minutes, so Kevin suggested for me to go to the scrapbook store and he would take care of Eli since it doesn't bother him so much to hear Eli cry. So off I went and it turned out that 15 minutes after I left, Eli went to sleep. I really appreciated him for a) recognizing my stress and b) taking that burden off of me!
2. I was working on scrapbook stuff yesterday and cutting out letters. Of course Eli was trying to get all into it, but Kevin was really great to take Eli and play with him so he wouldn't get into my stuff and I could finish what I was working on.
3. Last night a small plastic lid somehow got into the oven and melted to the bottom of the oven when I was baking fries, but Kevin was so gracious to clean it up without me even asking!
4. Last night when preparing dinner, I realized I didn't have enough mayonnaise for the salad I was making, but Kevin kindly offered to run out and get some. Huge help!
5. Kevin left early for work this morning as soon as he was ready, in hopes that his not being up and around the house would help Eli sleep later. Don't know if that was the trick, but Eli actually slept until 6:15 instead of 5:30 or 6:00! Believe me, that 15 minutes makes a huge difference! So already at 5:50 this morning, Kevin was being kind and thinking of others!

Part TWO: What I am doing today to show Kevin I love him... Food is the way to his heart. He's been asking for custard pie this week so before he mentions it again, I'll make it for him for tonight! (seriously, the easiest pie to make ever and sooo good!)

30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge

By Nancy Leigh DeMoss

"I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me." Song of Solomon 7:10

The sexual relationship. It's one of those elements—along with money and children—that can derail a marriage through negative comments. Negativity destroys intimacy, but encouragement builds and strengthens the marriage bond.

Let's get practical here. Is your husband a "good lover"? Have you told him so? Be specific. Let him know when he pleases you. Most husbands genuinely want to please their wives, especially in this important area of marriage.

In moments of intimacy, do you find your mind wandering? This can change as you focus on something wonderful about your husband. Realize that your husband wants intimacy with you . . . his desire is toward you.

Does this area of your marriage need some work? Remember that this is a sensitive area for men. Be sure to encourage his lovemaking and masculinity in positive ways.

Sarah,
I think you must of been reading a lot of people's minds! I feel like I am kind of in a slump. I am glad I am not alone. Hence, the reason why I haven't wrote in a few days. Its not that I have been all negative though. Yesterday, I don't believe I said anything negative! We had a good day. Today, he asked my opinion about something and instead of saying that looks horrible, I kindly said, "that doesn't look the best." I think instead of being very critical, a gentle let down is better. The day prior though we got into a little tiff. Shawn had his Father's Day gift packed and ready to go, but wrapped to him meant placing the gift in a box with the popcorn things. I didn't think it was the best idea since there was no wrapping paper or bag involved. I usually wrap gifts, so I thought I would of wrapped his dad's gift. Shawn took the inititative, and I didn't speak very positively. I felt guilty afterward. Something to do for Shawn--I was going to prepare a nice dinner, and we still have one movie left, so Shawn really wanted me to watch it with him. ( you know I am not too keen on watching a lot of movies.) I am going to get all of my running around done now, so we can enjoy the evening together. Lastly, there are some positive things Shawn has done for me this week.
1.) Shawn watched Henry for two hours last night while I studied for finals!
2.) Shawn knew I was in need of summer clothes, and there was a great sale, so he offered to take me to the mall.
3.) Shawn prepared dinner last night without any hesitation. He loves to cook, but sometimes I am too picky!!
4.) Shawn knows I don't know how to burn dvd's, so he burned our wedding dvd for a friend of mine that is getting married! I know this takes like five minutes, but he did it for me!
5.) I know there are many things he has done for me this week but I am stumped right now :) We went to bed late, so I'll blame it on not having much sleep!
---I hope Eli's teething gets better. Atleast Kevin is not working nights this week! You know if you need anythng I am a phone call away :)

Thanks for the motivation! It was nice to reflect and see all the positive things Stew had done for me already this week. And I hear you with the little one not napping. It's hardest when you can tell they need a nap, but are fighting it. Hang in there! Any day you need a pick me up play date give me a ring. Chances are I need one too.

This Husband Enouragement Challenge is another good one to get my focus onto someone else. Five positive things Marshall has done this week:
1) On his day off we went on an outing to Lake View -- just for fun. I know he likes being home, but he knew I was getting a little crazy from being home.
2) He ironed his own shirt on Tuesday encouraging me to continue with my studying for the big test I need to take at the end of June.
3) Finished removing the old shower stall doors on the downstairs bath. He has been working on this for awhile -- it has not been a quick and easy job, but I appreciate his allowing CHANGE!
4) Helped weed the garden -- but let me help too. Usually he does the whole thing, just not very often. I worked for awhile in the afternoon and he was encouraing me to have done what I did, instead of merely saying he was planning on doing it (but not doing it). Anyway, he did some in the evening and between us both, it looks great.
5) Took a walk with me even though his allergies caused his eyes to water and he sneezed many times.

Well, I was planning to make a key lime pie, but the custard pie sounds great too! Either way, as Sarah said, "Food is a way to his heart." That works for my hubbie also.

Update-- I made homemade meatballs w/homemade sauce and other vegetables. I thought it turned out pretty good but the meatballs were a tad sweet :) Hubby was thankful and did enjoy it! I forgot he had choir tonight, so we are not able to watch a movie. That is okay though. I am trying to remember to thank Shawn at every chance I can get! I did thank Shawn for hanging his clothes up in the order I like to keep them in our closet. It's a small thing but it is nice. How did your custard pie turn out? Have a good evening!
